It’s Spring time and with that come the bird’s nests.
Birds, especially Starlings, like to get into the dark corners of tractor engines. They’re quick to build their nests, which are a serious fire hazard.
James Cochrane talks us through preventing it from happening. Nesting usually happens overnight, but it can happen while you’re taking a break, he says. So, it’s important to check under the bonnet during the day, not just in the morning before setting off to work.
“Stop and pop,” James urges.
The key is to pop the bonnet and check for nests, particularly in areas that are hot and get dark, like the turbo charger and the manifold exhaust.
Case IH tractors have made it easy to check for nests as the bonnet opens right up, James notes.
